What we provide

Guides and Safety:

All Guides hold canoe guide licences and learner guides respectively. All Zimbabwean guides carry weapons. All walking safaris are conducted by an armed Professional guide in all the mentioned National Parks. Your River guide will give you a safety briefing before the trip starts. This will deal with hazards on the river, capsize and recovery drills. We provide lifejackets for your safety.

Transfers:

Transfers from and to Lusaka-Airport or from Harare can be arranged. We might even arrange accommodation in Chirundu (Zambian side) or Kariba for you if needed the night before safari starts or the night after your safari.

Equipment:

All our trips on the lower Zambezi use Canadian style canoes with proper seats and back rest. We provide all camping equipment on our trips including dome tents, THIN mattresses and light sleeping bags. Guests wishing to use their own gear are most welcome - but please tell us in advance. We also provide dry bags for e.g. cameras, binoculars.
PLEASE NOTE: we carry ALL gear and luggage in the canoes, this fact comes with limited space for any luxury equipment. All gear is simple but functionally adequate.

Ablutions:

There are NO toilets or facilities on the trip; we provide digging tools, toilet paper and matches. For your daily "shower" we provide buckets to collect water for bathing from the Zambezi River.

Meals and Drinks:

We supply hearty meals on all trips (early morning tea/coffee, warm breakfast, cold lunch, warm dinner). Dietary requirements and preferences can be catered for if we are advised in advance.  Wine for dinner and cordials with water throughout the day are provided. Any extra drink and hard liquor, beer or carbonated drinks, should be bought by guests prior to canoe trip departures. Your Guide will assist you with this.
PLEASE NOTE: to prevent yourself from dehydration while canoeing or walking we suggest you bring some EXTRA drinking water (2 litres/ per day/ per person). Your Guide will assist you with buying it prior to the trip.

PLEASE NOTE: If you book a trip what starts in Kariba Gorge it is recommended to stay the night before the trip in Kariba – we can help you to find accommodation.
