What to expect
Travel only with the essentials
A trip in a canoe allows for more comfort than a backpacking trip - yet all luggage is reduced to the bare minimum.
We sleep in simple dome tents on thin mattresses. We also provide sleeping bags and a tiny pillow. The daily shower comes from a bucket filled with water from the Zambezi River. For the walk to the toilet you will get toilet paper, matches and a spade and we will look out for dangerous game while you hide behind a bush or tree.
After dark it gets quiet in the camp, no electricity, no internet, no radio, no TV - just our small group of people under the wide canopy of the sky in the neighbourhood of wild animals.
Daily routine
We start early in the moring with a morning tea/ coffee and taking down camp and paddle towards the uprising sun. After the first part canoeing we will have a hearty breakfast on the shore of Zambezi.
Freshly strengthened we continue canoeing and will search for a nice spot for our long lunch break in the shade of big trees.
The afternoon we spend again aprox. 2 hrs canoing and around 17:00 we set up camp for the night on a sandbank. Good time for stretching legs and get your bucket-shower.
After night fall we'll enjoy dinner, the sounds of hippos, bathing elephants and the call of hyenas on the other side of the shore.
